PROFESSIONAL NETWORKING SIG
This SGVPA SIG is chaired by Melissa Johnson, PhD, who also chairs the LACPA Pasadena-area Networking Group. All events hosted are open to both SGPVA and LACPA members, creating a unique opportunity to engage with colleagues from both organizations. Our SIG mission is to support the professional practice of psychology through training and networking. Some of the topics we address include creative and ethical marketing and promotion (including social media and public speaking), business practices (such as hiring a psychological assistant or licensed colleague), and clinical specialties for expanding one’s practice and/or collegial network. Every meeting includes an opportunity to socialize, enjoy light refreshments, and share your latest practice news! Dr. Melissa Johnson, SIG Chair, has a passion for entrepreneurship in psychology. As the CEO and founder of the Institute for Girls’ Development in Pasadena, she loves providing the opportunity for colleagues to connect and learn. The meeting themes reflect Melissa’s passion for creating space for connection and collaboration, as well as her dedication to best practices for clinical work, supervision, and business development. For Melissa’s complete bio: https://www.instituteforgirlsdevelopment.com/melissa-j-johnson-ph-d/ Meetings occur every 2 – 3 months and are typically held on Fridays via Zoom, from 12 – 1:30 at Institute for Girls’ Development.
